New Volunteers

We'd love to have you join us in any capacity! The success of our project is dependent on the dedication of people such as yourself.

You don't have to be qualified to help us, and neither do you have to commit to coming to site on a regular basis. We can find work for people regardless of age, ability, availability or location! So why not consider joining our team, make new friends and either learn new skills or teach your existing ones to others. Our volunteers come from all walks of life; professional railway staff, managers, catering staff, shop workers, clerical staff and ambulance crews are just a few examples. All have one thing in common - they want to see Electric Railway Museum succeed. We have a constant need to recruit more volunteers, the more we have in the team the more progress the organisation can make; it's a simple equation - there is so much to be getting on with!

Volunteers are required in not just specialised areas, but all aspects of our work so regardless of how experienced you are we need to hear from you. Activities currently undertaken are:

  • Permanent way
  • Vehicle bodywork, painting and internal restoration
  • Mechanical and pneumatic restoration
  • Electrical work
  • Site maintenance and management staff
  • Behind the scenes and off-site staff (website, book-keeping, publicity)

No matter how much or how little time you can spare, we'd be glad to have you on board.  Please EMail us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
