Accessing the 309 During Training On January 17th this year, the West Midlands fire brigade undertook a major training exercise on the Coventry site of the Electric Railway Museum. In excess of 70 people were on site, comprising of fire and rescue personnel from the West Midlands Fire Service, volunteer casualties and Electric Railway Museum staff, some of whom took part in the exercise in the role of railway staff. The purpose of the day was to simulate a crash between a passenger train and a goods train and test the Fire Service's response and incident control proceedure.

Several fire engines and support vehicles were also involved and parked around the site and the casual passer by would have thought a major incident had happened! All involved declared themselves very happy with the day's work and valuable lessons were learned.
