Class 309 DT in red primer Work continued this weekend on Electric Railway Museum's Class 309s. One side of the Driving Trailer (DT) of unit 616 has had its bodyside treated and been given a coat of red oxide, so it now matches the Battery Driving Trailer (BDT) at the other end. Some attention was also given to the roof on the BDT for that unit. On unit 624, work has continued on testing and checking the electrics, with no major faults found. Some of the modifications made to the cab wiring whilst the units were used for testing at Old Dalby have been removed.

4732 eastern DMBS cab end after scrubbing downWhilst not part of Electric Railway Museum's collection, it is always good to see work being carried out on other vehicles based at our Coventry site. This weekend saw more work being carried out on first class section of the class 312 DTC by a member of its owning consortium, and, for the first time in many years, the 4-Sub 4732 received some cleaning attention from one of its shareholders. This resulted in a much improved external appearance to the cab at the eastern end. Electric Railway Museum would like to see more work on 4732 by its shareholders and supporters as it often receives adverse comment online and in the press. Anyone who would like to get involved in work on 4732 is welcome to get in touch with us and we shall pass you onto the unit's owners.
